Day 6 - Audible: Kansas City to Denver...Overnight

After yet another round of driving on the I-70 West, we found Kansas City, MO, or as we learned the locals say, "KCMO" for short, as opposed to "KCK", which represents the Kansas side of the city. We checked into the Q Hotel & Spa in the Westport area of KCMO, which, although looked alright (safe?) early in the night, turned into a pretty sketchy area later on.

We had an awesome cab driver (poor-man's chauffeur) named Abdul, who picked us up and told us about what to do in the city. Our first stop with Abdul took us to Arthur Bryant's on Brooklyn Avenue, where we had some tasty authentic midwestern BBQ. We were told that the area was not safe to walk around in, and believe me, we didn't need to be told twice.

After dinner we went back to the Westport area to check out some of the nightlife. After a little while, we decided that we did not want to get to Denver at 10PM on Saturday, but instead earlier, so we decided to leave right away. I kicked off the driving while Vlad and Sal slept. Vlad took over the driving somewhere in Kansas. After switching, I was in a haze of delirium and needed sleep badly. I zonked out in the back seat observing the greenery of the Kansas landscape. When I awoke about 3 hours later, the view was exactly the same...just rolling green lands as far as the eye could see. But at this point, we were officially in the Mountain Time zone and will soon be in the mile-high city! Stay-tuned!
